Inslee Partially to Blame for Wall Street Fiasco!

The recent revelations of the debacle on Wall Street have brought up some very troubling facts. The incumbent, Jay Inslee, has not only taken money directly from Fannie Mae/Freddie Mac and Countrywide Financial, but he has taken a total of $368,450 from financial firms on Wall Street (Link). This is not only unethical, but should be illegal! Now he is going to vote for who gets multi-hundred billion bail-outs for his Wall Street friends… some of whom will be given multi million dollar golden parachute bonuses.

This practice of taking PAC money by Inslee is just the opposite of how he would have 1st District constituents believe he votes. Jay Inslee is anything but bi-partisan and anything but for the little guy. He is a continuation of sustaining special interest groups’ power in Washington DC.

Larry Ishmael is a developmental economist. He understands what we need to do to turn this economy around and get it moving in the right direction… without bailing out greed-hungry Wall Street moguls who could care less about their shareholders or the American people in general. Let us give you some specific examples of what Larry would do for us:

The Federal Government uses a series of tools to micro-manage the US economy. We all know about the Federal Reserve and how they raise interest rates to contract the economy, or, conversely, lower interest rates to expand the economy. But, another way to do it is through the Treasury Department. They increase the supply of printed money to expand the economy and take money out of circulation to contract the economy. Another way is for Congress to use fiscal policy to manage the economy. They use lower taxes and tax incentives to stimulate the economy, while raising taxes to contract the economy.

So, what do you do when faced with the present day conundrum presented by the Wall Street Fiasco? The answer is simple enough for any macro economic 101 student to understand…. we need to reduce government spending! How do you do that? Larry Ishmael has been advising foreign governments in this very field and has helped governments reduce government spending by BILLIONS of dollars. The answer is to stop deficit spending now!

Larry has worked with a number of governments to reduce deficit spending, because ever since we moved from the gold standard to a fiat currency we opened Pandora’s box. Whenever we need money to run the government or fix problems like the proposed Wall Street bail out, we PRINT more money on our own printing presses. Over time this printing of money dilutes the value of the dollar steadily until it becomes worthless. Meanwhile, we are borrowing from the citizens of the United States and from around the world (China is one of the largest owners of US Treasury Bills) and every time we do it increases the amount of money we owe as a government. With this new bail out plan we will be increasing government’s overall debt by approximately 10% and that means a bigger chunk each year of our budget deficit is comprised of interest payments on that debt. Unless we stop this wholesale deficit spending, we all better start learning Mandarin Chinese because they will take over our country when we default if we don’t so something NOW!

Jay Inslee: Agent for Change?  Or PAC-Money Addict?
If you're looking for change, don't look at incumbent career-Congressman Jay Inslee.   He's just playing the same old political games -- games of stagnation, not of change.  He's reached deep into the pockets of the special interests, like many of his Congressional colleagues.  Jay Inslee has a monkey on his back. The PAC money addiction has Inslee in its grip.

Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac have recently been taken over by our government, failing miserably as their balance sheets plummeted due to shaky mortagage loans and deceptive accounting practices enabled by Inslee's Congress.  Inslee gladly accepted his PAC money fix from these huge institutions, and even took $2500 from Countrywide, another failed lender.   He apparently doesn't care or realize that government is a prime example of pathetic inefficiency.  Like all addicts, he can't shake his deficit spending mentality -- the one that perpetuates foolish expenditures of our hard-earned tax dollars.

Jay loves the special interests.  But Larry Ishmael has actually worked on various successful public/private and public/public partnerships that created efficient use of government dollars -- your dollars.

Do you feel like Jay is acting in our best interest as citizens of Washington State, even as 48% of his dollars come from special interests? $370,000 out of $762,000, actualy came from outside of his congressional district and shockingly, from outside of our great state.  These dollars are clearly not working for you.

Out of the $330,000 dollars Inslee raised from individuals, $67,000, or 20%, is from out-of-state individual lobbyists.  Haven't we had enough?  It's time stop the PAC money addiction.

Obama has the audacity to accuse McCain of voting 90% of the time with our president.  Yet Inslee has voted the tax-bloating liberal party line 98% of the time.  Independent voting analysis puts Inslee to the left of even Jim McDermott.  And the favorite lobby of the left, the Trial Lawyer's Association, endorses Inslee highly as "Most Progessive", double-speak for "most liberal".

The 110th Democratic-dominated Congress is hardly bipartisan.  Larry Ishmael will strive to change this counter-productive and alarming trend.  He will work in all of our best interests, and not eat out of the hands of the special interests.

Any doubts about who Inslee represents?  His record is clear:  special interests, the extreme left, his own party, and his own interests.  If this is his idea of change, we should want nothing of it.

Vote Larry Ishmael for Congress.  Larry has a lifetime of experience helping people and achieving true change.  He will work for you, NOT the special interests, while in Congress.

It is ironic that our esteemed Democrat Majority Leader, Nancy Pelosi, turned out the lights in Congress last week, preventing a solution for rapidly rising fuel costs.

Even Paris Hilton has a better energy plan than Jay Inslee's Congress of stonewallers.  Interestingly, even she suggests that environmentally sound offshore drilling might help us gain fuel independence sooner.

While almost all of us struggle to afford driving to work or flying for vacation, Jay Inslee's Congress drags out the problem and embraces $4 a gallon gas as an ally.  This is unconscionable.

In his place, Larry Ishmael would have stepped up to real leadership, aggressively negotiating a floor vote, to include those Democrats in favor of voting, regardless of the Speaker's “no vote” position.

Could it be that Paris Hilton's recent “political” ad contained some credible suggestions?

Drilling fields adjacent to ANWR with existing permits is a start.  Oil could be pumping within two years, not the 10-12 years Inslee's Congress claims.

Additionally, with new, practical and environmentally-safe directions in nuclear energy, we could conservatively be on our way to energy independence within five years.  As far back as 1996, nuclear energy in the U.S. displaced 62 million barrels of oil worth about $1 billion in oil purchases (SOURCE: Nuclear Energy Institute).

But what about offshore drilling?  It was Left on the sea floor, without a vote.  Jay Inslee's Congress has taken a five-week sabbatical without allowing a vote on offshore drilling or other Republican energy solution proposals.  Meanwhile, our families, schools, hospitals, utilities and economy are all struggling due to oppressive fuel costs. Again, fuel prices welcomed by Jay Inslee and his congressional cohort.

Inslee, and his pal Pelosi, refuse to deviate from their Global Warming platform. Pelosi has gone so far as to suppress Republicans from having a say in developing sensible energy policies for all Americans.  She wears her partisan colors well, accepting floor debate only on issues she has anointed as worthy.

Did Inslee and his Congress have this in mind when Pelosi shut off the lights and refused to allow C-Span coverage of the Republican speeches on the floor?   Could it be that they believe darkening the chamber would offset the fuel crisis?  Let's hope not.

Larry Ishmael is willing to stand up, step up and speak out with real leadership on growth-oriented, family-friendly energy policies that won't put a strain on your pocket book.  Vote for Ishmael in August and November to get some real light back in Congress.

Jay Inslee believes that $4 gas prices are an “ally of action”, according to an article in the 7/18/2008 San Francisco Chronicle.

"...the only way we have a chance to drive down oil prices is if we become free of the slavery of oil. If we can give Americans choices of electrical cars or ... biodiesel cars, then and only then do we have a chance of dealing with this cost issue. That is why $4-a-gallon gas is not an enemy of action, it's an ally of action."

If he and his allies in Congress get their way, you may find your choices of where you spend your money, how you get to work, and how you cart your kids around to soccer games severely curtailed as our government mandates social engineering, with your tax dollars.

Jay Inslee and his Congress want you to think that $4 per gallon gas is in your best interest, since it paves the way for viable energy alternatives. But economics, and actual impacts on the environment, may prove otherwise.

The gorilla in the extreme environmentalist’s room is that many alternative fuel sources actually do more harm than good. Because our government, with the full blessing of the extremist environmental left, provide subsidies for farmers to switch their fields to biofuel-producing crops, food prices are soaring (Source: World Bank).

And what of CO2 - the chief culprit in the supposed global warming problem? By some accounts, the production of biofuels creates more CO2 than they report to eliminate. (Sources: New Scientist, Nature Conservancy).

Jay Inslee’s new Transportation and Housing Options for Gas Price Relief Act of 2008 will hurt the average person and families the most. Here are just a few ways how: (Source: Environmental Defense Fund)

  • Expand public transportation - The key word here is public, which means publicly funded. Your hard-earned tax dollars will fund increased bureaucracy. It also means getting you out of your car.
  • Helping transit agencies deal with higher fuel costs - How? Will the government just give these agencies more money to make up for higher costs? How much? And where will these funds come from? Be assured that these tax dollars will come from your pockets.
  • Encourage pay-as-you-go insurance – Simply put, drive less and pay your insurer less. Sounds nice, except-- if you have no choice but to drive your car, and you have a long commute—y. Your rates will actually go up. And, your higher rates will subsidize those that live close to where they work.
  • Spur availability of mortgages that make owning homes closer to transit more affordable – This will result in a higher population density as people are fiscally forced to relocate into metropolitan living spaces. Again, where will this money come from? From you, if you buy a house out of reach of a transit line.

Jay Inslee and his Congress believe they can act in your best interest and spend your money better than you can. Such behavior does not deserve your vote in the next election.

Nothing is free. Somebody has to pay for these grand plans. It will be average Americans just like you; people that desire nothing more than to build for their families a lifestyle of happiness in liberty. Legislation like this, no matter how well-intentioned, hurts the very people it means to help by creating higher costs of living that drive people into second jobs, shoulder-to-shoulder living, and mass-transit just to make ends meet.

Does Jay Inslee recognize the true impacts of this new legislation on families? The possibility that he might is almost too much to consider. One can only hope then that he does not. Perhaps he is actually more interested in publicity that will increase sales of his new book. Whatever the case, he clearly aims to use your hard-earned dollars as kindling to supposedly ignite their vision for a “clean energy economy.”

We have better goals, goals that are in everyone’s best interest:

  • Protect your freedom to drive to work, church or the grocery store on your own terms and schedule – Personal transportation based on your needs, not on government mandates. If transit works best for you, great. If you choose to own a car and drive, more power to you. That’s the real freedom American’s want, and Larry Ishmael will fight for it.
  • Work toward viable alternatives to fossil fuels, including nuclear energy - It already powers 75% of France (Source: World Nuclear Association). If they can use it safely and effectively, then so can the US. What is stopping us? Policies like those promoted by Jay Inslee and the other members of his Congress. Larry Ishmael will put forward and support legislation to dramatically increase America’s fuel and energy production facilities.
  • Continue to Promote and develop hydrogen fuel-cell technology - Hydrogen is a by-product of nuclear energy production, and could be viable in just a few years. With continued research and innovation, it will eventually be affordable and clean (Source: World Nuclear Association). Larry Ishmael will be a leader and out-spoken proponent of this new technology and the infrastructure needed to support it.
  • Continue to develop economically sustainable ways to produce clean energy - Biofuels currently take a lot of energy in the form of food, fuel, and water to produce (Source: Cornell University). At the moment, it just isn’t worth it, no matter what Jay Inslee and his Congress would have us think. But that doesn’t mean we shouldn’t keep trying. We can solve any problem we put our minds to, especially when we unleash the full potential of the free market economy to bring forth the best technologies in the shortest time. Larry Ishmael knows the key to success is to get out of the way and to enable it.

Larry Ishmael seeks your vote to act in your best interest, not in the name of the latest, unsubstantiated environmental fads. With Larry Ishmael in Congress, you can count on real work toward real solutions that are in everyone’s best interest. This November, vote for a real strategy, vote for meaningful and sensible change, not Jay Inslee’s attempt to take more of your hard-earned dollars. Vote for Larry Ishmael for Congress.
